Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Lesotho distributes food during drought crisis

Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya Lesotho distributed food supplies to a hundred needy families on 8 March 2025. The country is currently facing a mini-drought due to untimely rains. This has also led to a significant increase in the prices of commodities and is making it difficult for low-income earners to support their families. The Jamaat Lesotho participated in this charity event during the blessed month of Ramadan. The Minister of Law and Justice of Lesotho, Honourable Richard Ramoletsi, was the chief guest at the event that was sponsored by the Jamaat and the government agency Disaster Management Authority. Essential commodities were purchased from the country’s capital, Maseru, for this distribution. The stuff can be used by a family of five people for one and a half to two months with ease.

To organise this programme, a meeting was held with the Honourable Minister of Law and Justice in his office. He was informed about this programme and with his permission, it was organised. During the meeting, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat and its charity work were introduced to him.

The programme was attended by various distinguished guests, including the D.C., A.C. Chief of the area, Member of Parliament and Councillor. My humble self spoke about Islam’s message of peace. The Honourable Minister thanked the Jamaat and requested to continue these beneficial activities and cooperate in different sectors of the country and expressed his desire to continue such works in the future. He said, “Amazingly beautiful and blessings upon your Jamaat.”
