This event was solely for ladies and the theme was Women’s Empowerment Through Religion. Guests and speakers attended from different religions and faiths.
The guest speakers were: Reverend Nima Taylor from Unitarian Church, Rabbi Andrea Kuti from Temple of Israel who spoke on reformed Judaism, Maitri Makan from Anandar Kutir Ashram who spoke on Hinduism, Reverend Lulama Sibeko from RAMSA who spoke on Christianity and Rashidah Hargey from the Ahmadiyya Jamaat who spoke on Islam.
The event was chaired by the national president of Lajna Imaillah South Africa, Abida Roomaney Sahiba. The event began with the recitation of the Quran followed by a welcome and brief background on the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat.
Each speaker delivered their message with great passion, zeal and insight. The common goal of love, respect, peace and recognition came through strongly from each speech. Everyone acknowledged that the mother, being the focal point in the family unit and in the larger community, plays a very crucial and important role.
The seminar was attended by more than 28 invited guests, including Berry Behr, chairperson of Cape Town Interfaith Initiative.
Every participant was filled with renewed energy wanting to make a difference by working together. Old friendhsips were rekindled and new ones made.
Guests expressed their appreciation for arranging the event and positive feedback was received.
